A Centered Life RCO

A Meaningful Nonprofit Organization

Reed and Krista Smith, the owners of Centered Recovery Programs Atlanta, Roswell, Marietta and Alpharetta, Georgia are proud to announce Fulton County’s newest Recovery Community Organization (RCO), A Centered Life. It provides mental health and recovery resources to the metro Atlanta area.

“We have been looking for ways to increase our ability to help people with drug and alcohol addiction treatment for a long time, says Reed Smith, Director of Client Services and co-founder of Centered Recovery. “Having been here for the past 5 years, we’ve really seen gaps that needed filling in mental health, addiction support, and family support services, and we’re happy to help try and meet those needs.”

While the organization will initially focus on support groups of all types for individuals in recovery, A Centered Life has also identified mental health support for families, teens, and children as a critical need in our area. Using a backdrop of mindfulness in substance abuse rehabilitation, the support groups, life coaching, mentoring groups, and service groups will provide a safe place.

This is a  comfortable space to cultivate resilience for mental, physical and emotional health. The more community members we can serve, the stronger and healthier the community will be as a whole.

Support Groups for Substance Abuse Recovery

A Centered Life has identified that while there is a strong recovery community in the Atlanta area, there are often types of support groups which are desperately wanted, yet not available to the public. Therefore, A Centered Life will provide the following types of free Recovery support to the community at a convenient Roswell location:

General Mental Health Support

In addition to Addiction Recovery Support services, A Centered Life will provide a type of support group that is critical to the success of individuals in recovery–Family Support Groups. These groups will be offered free to the community and will be presented from a mindfulness/open perspective. Families of individuals in recovery from any program will be welcomed. These groups will be led by an experienced clinician with a background in family support services.

There is an educational component program that will be followed for the first half of each group in order to educate family members about common issues or challenges arising during addiction recovery, and the second half of each group will allow time for questions, processing, and support. This educational program was developed by mindfulness experts and reviewed by licensed clinicians, physicians, and counselors.

Centered Life Uses Mindfulness Specific Services

In addition to Centered Support groups at our IOP drug rehabs Roswell location, which were developed and offered to the general public in 2017, A Centered Life will also offer educational workshops to the general public, either for free or for a nominal fee. The Mindfulness Based Stress Relief Workshop will provide education and Skills Building group sessions for clients from a mindfulness perspective.

This will allow them to cultivate awareness of essential mental health practices to move through life without the feeling of overwhelm, burnout, or stress that often leads to much more serious mental health issues. The Mindfulness Based Relapse Prevention Workshop will provide education and Skills Building group sessions for clients who have struggled with addiction issues in the past or completed recovery treatment previously.

Additionally, a Mindful Parenting group will educate parents of children of all ages how to navigate common parenting issues from a mindful lens. This will be presented workshop style with 6 week programs. these will include lessons on increasing calm communication skills, listening with the heart, setting up the family for success, and setting healthy boundaries for long lasting family success.

Centered Life Additional Services

A Centered Life has also pledged to support north Georgia community members through other means including Life Coaching and Mental Health Workshops and support services for local high schools, middle schools, and elementary schools. Age-appropriate workshops are being developed to provide education on mindfulness and resilience for students, as well as provide meaningful support to overworked school counselors and teachers. Workshops for educators will also be considered with interest. Additional events will be announced as they are planned.

Mission

The mission of A Centered Life RCO is to provide meaningful recovery support to the residents of the Alpharetta/Milton/Roswell area, complete with mindfulness-based options.
