Centered Recovery is a mindfulness-based non-12 step mental health and drug abuse treatment and education program offering outpatient*, intensive outpatient (IOP)*, and partial hospitalization* services to the metro Atlanta area. Our program combines traditional mental health therapies through one-on-one counseling and completely innovative program which was specifically designed to help our clients realize their own innate health to overcome even the toughest addictions and create healthy, balanced lives.

*see below for an explanation of each

For clients who have attempted sobriety in the past and were unsuccessful, our program utilizes a completely fresh approach free of traditional punitive methods and labeling. We believe that support, understanding and compassion are key to helping clients find a permanent, lasting solution that comes from within.

Mental Health Treatment

Our Mindfulness-based Program is also incredibly effective treatment for clients struggling with depression, anxiety, stress, and burnout. Mindfulness has been shown to greatly impact these mental health issues, which are very often linked to substance or alcohol use. You can participate in our Intensive Education program and keep your current therapist relationship, or we can provide individual counseling sessions along with our program to help you work through individual issues one-on-one.

Goals

Our program’s primary goal is mental and physical well-being for all of our clients. In well balanced mental and physical health, sobriety is a natural by product, as there is no longer an urge to find escape in a bottle. Years of experience in the field of recovery has shown that most addictions are the result of an innocent attempt to escape or eliminate some type of emotional suffering, whether it is boredom, anxiety, pain, or depression. Helping our clients see the root cause of their pain allows them to discover the key to moving beyond it. The unique program integrates common sense with cutting edge neuroscience to illuminate how to find resilience even among chaos, both from the past and in the future.

Flexible Scheduling

Centered Recovery understands that each story is unique, and that a cookie cutter approach will only work on those who fit the mold. We developed our program knowing that in behavioral health recovery, there is no one size-fits-all, so our clients enjoy individually tailored therapy that fits their needs and are able to work through their unique situations by adapting group lessons. We offer a variety of schedules in order to meet the needs of all clients, including a full day program of 30 hours per week, a part time schedule of 3-5 groups a week, plus individual group sessions to be used as needed. Clients may keep their current private therapist or meet with one of our own highly qualified staff. We know that your recovery is about you–and therefore we meet you where you are and what you need both in scheduling and intensity of the programs we offer.

We have found that people struggling with addictions are almost never struggling alone: families, spouses, parents, and children of our clients often express a need for compassionate help as well, which is something that is often overlooked. Without addressing or acknowledging the needs of everyone affected, the healing process can easily be delayed or hindered. Centered Recovery provides aftercare services to those clients who wish to continue one-on-one, family, or group therapy sessions with our aftercare facilitators. However, our program is designed to provide our clients with the tools that make their sobriety completely portable–without the need to depend upon sponsors, meetings, or additional therapy to live a healthy, sober life. Of course it is not a magic pill, but the newfound ongoing present awareness can create a foundation for many lasting positive changes in life.

Levels of Care

What levels of care do you provide at Centered Recovery? What do those levels of care consist of? What can I expect my treatment to look like at Centered? These are frequent questions we receive at Centered. Here are the levels of care offered by Centered Recovery at this time.

  • Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP): The highest level of clinical care we offer at Centered Recovery. The name is slightly misleading because this is still an outpatient level of care, but it requires 30 hours per week of intensive group programming and individual therapy with a licensed clinician. These are offered Monday through Friday, typically 9 AM – 4 PM, although some clients may choose to take our “split” option which includes some evening hours. This level of care is typically recommended for new clients or clients who have just completed a detox or residential treatment program. Clients may elect to participate at the PHP level of care for 1-12 weeks, depending on their insurance, mental health needs, financial needs, and/or scheduling needs. Medically, this level of care includes weekly check ins for vital signs, medication reporting, and medical stability. Additionally, clients will receive at least one random urinalysis/drug screening per week. Insurance will typically cover 1-4 weeks of PHP based on medical necessity. Clients may choose to live in sober living or in their own home during this level of care.
  • Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP): The next highest level of clinical care we offer at Centered Recovery. Intensive Outpatient programs are highly flexible, and can include anywhere from 3-5 days of intensive group programming at 3 hours each (9-15 hours per week), plus at least one hour of individual therapy with a licensed clinician per week. Clients may elect to participate at the IOP level of care for 1-12 weeks, depending on their individual needs. Insurance will typically cover 4-12 weeks of IOP based on medical necessity. Medically, this level of care includes monthly vital signs, medication reporting, and medical stability. Additionally, clients will receive at least one random urinalysis/drug screening per week. Clients may choose to live in sober living or in their own home during this level of care.
  • Outpatient Program (OP): This is the lowest level of clinical care we offer at Centered Recovery. Outpatient programs are the most flexible, and can include anywhere from 1-2 days of 90 minute group sessions each week, with 1-2 one hour individual therapy sessions per month. Clients may elect to participate at the OP level of care for 1-unlimited number of weeks, depending on their individual needs. Insurance may cover OP level of care for years, because it is considered best-practice for addiction recovery to remain engaged at some level of care with a licensed program and clinician, and can be compared to having therapeutic adjustments or physical therapy after a major surgery to improve and maintain health. At this level of care, clients will receive at least one random urinalysis/drug screening per month. Clients are encouraged to live at their own home during this level of care to establish and support a return to their new normal every day life.
  • Educational Program (EDU): This is the lowest and most flexible level of care we offer at Centered Recovery, and does not include clinical care. Our Educational Program allows clients to participate in our intensive groups in the way that works best for their schedule and finances. Clients may choose to participate in all 13 of our groups each week for 12 weeks, attend just one group per week, or purchase “group passes” which can be used at any time within 6 months–or create their own unique way of participating. At this level of care, there is no individual therapy, simply because many clients may already have their own personal therapist and do not wish to “start over” with a new clinician, or their individual mental health needs are already being met elsewhere. There is also no oversight medically via medical admission or medical check ins, as some clients wish to retain their own medical professionals for this aspect of their journey.
