How long is your program?

Length of stay

Dealing with an addiction issue can be daunting. Not only is there a financial aspect to consider, there is usually also a major time commitment involved. For many clients who already have work and family obligations, understanding how much time will be required of them to participate in treatment can be a huge factor. One of the questions we are most often asked by prospective clients at Centered Recovery is “how long is your program?”

This is such a great question! Centered Recovery uses a unique proprietary program called Transformational Recovery which provides 12 weeks of groups–60 unique three hour groups for 5 days a week. Theoretically, a client could attend every day for 12 weeks and never repeat a group! Most people, however, don’t have the luxury of attending 12 weeks in a row, so they create a program that works best for their own schedule. While ultimately, this answer is completely individualized to each client and their own unique needs, we do have a few general recommendations that would be a good start for the majority of clients new to addiction recovery treatment. Check out the levels of care and what we recommend below!

What level of care?

PHP

First, if you have the ability to commit to a few weeks of PHP, or partial hospitalization program, do it! Partial Hospitalization is a bit of a misnomer since there isn’t actually a hospital involved–this just means full-time day treatment. Centered offers PHP from 9 AM – 4 PM, five days a week. Why would someone commit to 5 full days of addiction treatment? Because beginning a recovery journey is a bit like learning a whole new language. Sure, you’ll pick up a few new words and maybe be able to order tacos con carne if you just take one Spanish class a week, but you certainly would be much more fluent if you were able to “immerse” yourself in 5 full days for at least a week or two! At Centered Recovery, you’re learning the language, new healthy habits, and a whole new way of looking at life, something you definitely want fluency in as quickly as possible.

  • Centered Recommends: 1-2 weeks of PHP level of care

IOP

Intensive outpatient programming, or IOP,  is typically the next step. Some clients choose to begin at the IOP level of care due to work or family obligations, and we totally understand that you can only do what you can do. However, if you skip the PHP step, you may want to extend the number of weeks you stay at the IOP level to give yourself a bit more time to settle in and really learn everything you need to learn. IOP level of care is provided at Centered Recovery 5 mornings per week from 9 AM – 12 PM, and 3 evenings per week on Tuesday-Thursday from 6 PM – 9 PM. These half day experiences are still intense–Interpersonal Neurobiology, Embodied Mindfulness, and Real Time Recovery all deserve serious attention!

  • Centered Recommends: 2-4 weeks of 5 day IOP, followed by 4-6 weeks of 3 day IOP, OR 8 weeks of 3 day IOP

OP

Outpatient programming is the lowest clinical level of care with a treatment facility. We don’t recommend beginning at this level of care unless you have been in treatment for some time and are very stable in your sobriety. This level of care can be utilized for years as a means of staying involved in a recovery community, to strengthen your sobriety skills and mental health, and to stay engaged with a clinician you love who can continue to support you in your healthy path. Outpatient level of care can be anywhere from 90 minutes a week to 6 hours per week, and is offered at Centered during any of our regularly scheduled group times. Outpatient programming is extremely flexible which makes it easy to stay engaged while returning to your daily routine of work, family, and friends. Due to Centered Recovery’s unique mindfulness based program, we have several classes each week that are always unique and evolving–which means that a person can attend at least one group per week for the rest of their lives without “repeating” a group they’ve already attended.

  • Centered Recommends: at least 1-2 months of OP for stability in the “real world”, but we love when clients stay engaged with us for years!

Education Only

Centered Recovery is the only recovery facility to offer the Education Only track as a way for clients to get exactly what they want from their recovery program, and nothing more. EO clients choose a number of groups they wish to participate in, and self-pay for this number on a monthly or annual basis. EO clients come when they need stability, check in, wish to hear certain speakers, have extra time off, before holidays or major projects are due–any time they wish to participate! Our Education Only track allows clients who have other issues, such as anxiety, work burnout, or relationship issues  get what they need from our Mindfulness-based IPNB groups–no addiction issues required! This is also popular with spouses who realize their loved one has radically improved their life and health through our program, and they want the same for themselves!

  • Centered Recommends: as long as you want for Education Only!
