Innovative addiction treatment center celebrates Recovery Month with distinguished guests
(Roswell, GA) – Last Wednesday, September 13th, The Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony at Centered Recovery Programs, which is a non-12 step outpatient substance abuse treatment and education program. In addition to many community leaders and Chamber Ambassadors, the event was also attended by treatment professionals and recovery advocates.
The event started with welcome remarks from Lucas Catton, Centered Recovery’s Co-Founder and Managing Director, as well as Georgia State Representative, Chairman Chuck Martin and Chamber CEO and State Senator Brandon Beach.
In his opening address, Catton exclaimed, “Today we celebrate not only the beginning of a vision realized by our founders, but also a shared vision by so many dedicated people in the recovery community to help others lead better lives free from the shackles of addiction.”
Catton continued, “When we set out to open our program, it took a lot of time and effort to find a suitable location and landlords who would give us a chance. They didn’t want ‘those people’ near their other tenants, but what they failed to realize is that ‘those people’ are already here, and they include our family members, co-workers, neighbors and others we interact with every day. Turning a blind eye doesn’t change that, and we applaud everyone here for recognizing this and encouraging people to get help.”
The event was also part of National Recovery Month, which has as its theme this year, Join the Voices of Recovery: Strengthen Families and Communities. There was a strong emphasis on community for the entire ceremony, with many local leaders in attendance.
Both Chairman Martin and Senator Beach expressed their sincerest desire for people to get help for substance abuse, as they each shared that they had lost young people who were close to them to drug overdoses. Their vulnerability and heartfelt speeches emphasized the need for a strong community, including not just elected officials and business leaders, but also faith leaders, educators, law enforcement and more.
After the speakers Senator Beach and the Chamber Ambassadors joined Centered Recovery’s Co-Founders, Reed and Krista Smith and Lucas and Leslie Catton, in the actual ribbon cutting out in front of the building. This was followed by tours of the facility hosted by Centered Recovery staff as well as food and refreshments.
Centered Recovery is a non 12 step, mindfulness-based addiction treatment program that uses a unique psychoeducational component in conjunction with clinically proven therapies for a recovery that is customizable for every client. They currently offer outpatient, intensive outpatient and full-time day treatment to fit just about any scheduling needs.
